Jeypore (Odia: ଜୟପୁର), literally meaning "City of Victory" is the largest town of the Koraput district which is situated in the south of Odisha (India). The place boasts of its varied culture and scenic beauty which encompasses it. It is surrounded by hills of the Eastern Ghats and is the second largest business hub in the entire Southern Odisha. It is not only one of the fastest growing towns of Odisha in terms of its population but also in terms of the different facilities which the people residing here are able to derive.
Jeypore is an ancient town and has an important place in the history of Odisha. The town was the capital of the ancient Jeypore kingdom which had its borders till the currently known Vizianagaram and is well known for its ancient palaces and temples. Though Odia is predominantly spoken in Jeypore, there is a diverse cultural mix with people speaking in Telugu and Hindi as well.
